Like the Edge, U2's guitar player, I have always had a fascination with effects units. Combining the nostalgic design of modern guitars and amplifiers with comparatively space-age technology in an attempt to boldly go where no guitarist has gone before. In pursuing these endeavors, an arsenal of cables was required to connect my equally large collection of effects units. I like most guitar players bought into the snake oil which was used and is still used to sell overpriced cables. Thankfully, I was more interested in buying effects units than in making a considerable investment into a set of "good" cables. I spent a couple hundred dollars on a cheap set of instrument cables. These cables would crackle and hum in a way that your expensive tube amp would sound like a cheap solid state. This experience began the journey of creating Edge of Sound. The motivation was to create a line of cables which were realistically priced and utilized the highest quality components. The logistics of checking off both of those boxes seemed impossible in an industry where a majority of the companies manufactured overseas. How could we manufacture in the United States and still offer competitive pricing? The answer was to use the internet as the primary sales channel.
