Many couples will make wills that appoint each other as an executor, and usually leave everything to each other. This in most cases, such a will has little effect when one dies, because most assets such as property, investments, bank accounts – will be held jointly, and pass to the survivor. A PoA is to appoint one or more representatives to take care of your financial affairs while you are alive but unable to do so by reason of mental or physical ability. You can appoint loved ones and friends to make medical decisions for you. Our suggestion is that you appoint several people, people who are close to you and capable of deciding on your behalf. Making final arrangements is a personal decision, and one that you should be made by yourself while you still can. Never leave it to your loved ones.
